Game Development Group
Liz Potapova approached the VGA with a new idea, a branch of the VGA that would later try to stand on it's own, a group focused on making games. The e-board loved the idea, and Liz needed a logo, so I agreed to work with her as the VGA designer. The group has gone on to be a massive success, even garnering it's own gdg-board within the VGA.
These were assorted sketches made after an in-person meeting with Liz to discuss our ideas and come up with a direction for the design. I kept floating the idea of calling it "BUGD", or Binghamton University Game Development, however she very strongly clung onto "GDG", which I now see as a better acronym. The final idea we wanted to go with based in the bottom right, a "space invader" type of Baxter the Bearcat (Binghamton University's mascot), with a trail of pixels getting smaller akin to Windows 95. The top left was also used as an inspiration for an expanded wordmark logo.
